Celebrating Life After Transplantation

10th October 2018

Kaylee Davidson-Olley and Lynne Holt welcome cyclists to the finish of the Coast 2 Coast.

135 Mile Coast to Coast Cycle Ride, celebrating life after transplantation.

Seven members from the Anaplan UK Sales team have cycled 135 miles from Whitehaven to Sunderland for Transplant Sport UK because they want to promote awareness for Organ Donation. They also wish to raise money for the GB Transplant Cycling Team who have started preparing for the World Transplant Games, which  being held in NewcastleGateshead, Summer 2019.

Team Leader Nigel Gale along with Nick Turner, Mark Christou, Jon Hill, Julian Di Tomaso, Ania Kempista and Jofi Alexander, stepped up to the challenge to support the charity Transplant Sport, who are UK’s largest national charity promoting active recovery for transplant recipients and increasing awareness of the benefits of organ donation.

Transplant Sport was proposed by Anaplan employee Jofi Alexander, as his son Luke at the age of 12, underwent a life saving liver transplant, and it was Transplant Sport that helped him on his road to recovery. Luke, now 18, has been selected on to the Team GB Cycling Team.

Through this fund raiser they want to promote awareness for the importance of organ donation as well as raise money to support this amazing charity.  The money raised will go towards supporting the GB Transplant cycling team to help in their preparation for the World Transplant Games in 2019 and other cycling events organised by Transplant Sport.

Jofi, Luke’s father comments: “It’s truly amazing how sport can help in the recovery after an organ transplant. Six years ago, my son Luke was given the 2nd chance of life, and he is now living it to the full, and has just started university, all due to his  donor family giving consent to organ donation“.

Please share this story, make a donation, but most importantly, share your wishes with your families now.
