Durham Cathedral, City of Durham and Beamish Museum

Author Bill Bryson called Durham City ‘a perfect little city’. The captivating city with winding cobbled streets and a prominent peninsula is crowned with the dramatic Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site. Built in 1093 the Cathedral is renowned for its magnificent Romanesque architecture and original medieval wall paintings. The medieval Cloister featured in the first two Harry Potter films.

Durham City was voted the ‘Best city in the UK’ by Condé Nast’s Traveller magazine readers.

Beamish Museum is a world famous open air museum telling the story of life in the North East during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s.

Depart Newcastle at 9.30am and travel to Durham via the Angel of the North. Arrive at Durham Cathedral at approximately 10.45am, free time to explore the Cathedral with a guide on hand to answer any questions.  Free time to explore the city of Durham.  Coach leave Durham at 1.30pm arriving at Beamish Museum at 2pm, 2 hours to explore Beamish Museum, coach leave at 4pm arriving back in Newcastle at 4.30pm.
