Farne Islands, Seahouses and the Northumberland Coast
The Farne Islands are as stunning as they are interesting – with rocky shores, grey seals and many species of seabird, including around 37,000 pairs of puffin. The islands have a strong link with Celtic Christianity and there is a medieval pele tower and Victorian lighthouse.
Seahouses is a colourful fishing village on the Northumberland coast with a bustling harbour, shops and the UK’s oldest operating smokehouse.
Depart Newcastle at 9.00am and travel to Seahouses via Northumberland coast, arrival at 10.30am and board the Billy Shiels Boat for the Farne Island. Arrive Farne Islands for a 2.5 hour land on the island and time to explore, local guide on hand to answer questions. 1.30pm leave the Farne Island and travel back to Seahouses, approximately 1.5 hours free time in Seahouses to explore. Coach leaves 3.30pm returning to Newcastle via Northumberland coast for approximately 4.30pm.
